NEW MOON in PURVA ASHADHA: Lend a Hand

NEW MOON in PURVA ASHADHA: Lend a Hand

We begin 2022 with a New Moon on Jan 2nd at 13:33 eastern time in a supportive degree of sidereal Sagittarius called Purva Ashadha, “the invincible star.” The sign is philosophical, insightful, and has strong intuition. It’s ruled by Venus and Jupiter, and encourages us to make time to tune in and listen to the inner whispers, and to talk through them with trusted friends. Purva Ashadha is kind, supportive and makes efforts to ensure all “win” – which results in tremendous interpersonal skills and great opportunities for personal development, often times coming from facing challenges with courage, patience, a level of detachment of outcome and an ability to be flexible.

This moon is sitting with the Sun (as all New Moons do) and with Venus retrograde, and so is magnifying the Venus energy we are already in (see previous forecast: https://www.lexneon.com/forecasts/venus-retrograde-love-re-envisioned). This New Moon is pulling back the veil, revealing deeper truths around old connections, patterns and expressions. Are we being true to ourselves? Or are we allowing old habits and cycles to take the helm? This New Moon, beautifully coinciding with the start to a New Year, is offering another moment of reflection for more mindful alignment.

Jupiter and Venus, this New Moon’s ruling planets, remind us to keep the focus on the connections who uplift and support us; not necessarily “yes-men” but those who are capable of having discussions without feeling the need to be “right.” And so a challenge this New Moon might face is holding onto to excess “water” both physically and emotionally. As my Ayurvedic mentor Dr. Vasant Lad says, “the issues are in the tissues” – so use this time to work through and work out any old feelings that are ready to flow on out. Supporting the kidneys and the lymphatic system with rhythmic massage and breathwork, gua sha, drinking enough water and other modalities like rebounding or jumping rope will be helpful. Holding safe space for friends to share is perhaps the most important aspect of this time.
