May 7, 2024 at 11:22pm ET New Moon Bharani 23°50 Aries: What are you bearing, laboring through, and birthing?

New moons are times of planting seeds and embarking on new paths. This moon in Bahrani, a degree of sidereal Aries whose name means “the bearer”, is no different. Being ruled by Yama, the god of death and justice, and being in the 4th pada ruled by Scorpio, this New Moon has a strong predisposition towards release and renewal. Its symbol is the yoni: the female reproductive organ, that actively releases in order for creation to occur. Thankfully, the planets seem to all be conspiring since March but especially the last weeks of April to help us let go of the old and plan for the new to emerge: the eclipse opening new paths ahead; Jupiter’s recent and welcome shift, currently in Krittika “the cutter” giving us the power to cut out the old and cut through to the core; Mercury’s current “gandanta” tied knot position that requires we actively transform how we think/communicate/connect in order to move forward. This New Moon on May 7/8 in the beautiful and powerful Bharani is driving the message home that new paths are here. But first we must lean into the letting go part of the process in order for the next piece to be birthed.

Of course, letting go isn’t easy for highly attached beings like ourselves, so we look to the planets this New Moon is connecting with in order to get more insight into what to do. This New Moon is connecting to the Sun (as all New and Full Moons do), Venus and Saturn:

First, we must look within ourselves: is what we are embarking on a true expression of who we are? Does it feel authentic and supportive of our bigger dharma or purpose?

Then we must reflect on the creation process we are considering or already engaging in. Venus and Saturn remind us to grab a trusted accountability partner and to map out a very thorough plan. (Saturn and even Mars have been suggesting this for a while now.)

The mantras of the moment: Keep it simple. Keep it realistic. Keep checking in with yourself and your partners and make sure you are able to show up and dedicate time to your vision.

Bharani’s message: honor your creative process and the new you emerging.

PROMPTS

Questions to consider:

•What is yours to carry?

•What can you no longer bear?

•What are you ready to shed?

•What is in need of transformation or renewal?

•What do you want to create?

•Do you need support in your birthing process?

•What will you need to move on from in order to walk with freedom and courage?

•Are you engaging your shakti – your personal power?

The added beauty of this Moon and the newly supportive time we are in is we are coming up on May 9 (starting at 6:47pm) to May 10 (ending 5:20pm eastern time) to what is considered to be the luckiest time in the Hindu calendar: Akshaya Tritiya (mentioned in the recent webinar). This is when the luminaries in the sky – Sun and Moon – are both exalted, with the Sun in sidereal Aries and the Moon in Taurus. It is said endeavors begun on this day are blessed to succeed, including beginning a business and even getting married. (Even though it is said all ills are wiped away on this day, I still recommend looking at our own birth charts for support of any major events we wish to do.) Recommended activities to do at some point in the days are fasting (in Ayurveda, having one meal like kitchari is acceptable), doing “seva” (selfless service), and connecting to your spiritual practices. This particular Akshaya Tritiya is even more “blessed” in that the Moon is sitting with Jupiter, the great benefic, who always uplifts and helps us get into alignment with our vision and our higher purpose. This is indeed a much needed shift in the sky.
