July 4, 2020: LUNAR ECLIPSE: TRUTH and COURAGE
LUNAR ECLIPSE: TRUTH and COURAGE
This lunar eclipse on July 5th at 00:44am eastern time is in sidereal Sagittarius, the truth seeker. It is sitting with Jupiter, the planet of truth. Normally, this would amplify the truth-seeking qualities of an eclipse. However, it’s not so simple this time. Jupiter is in its own sign again but it is retrograde at the moment, which can have a rolling back effect on the planet’s expression. The Moon is also sitting with Ketu, the mystical, illusion-creating, highly intuitive yet sometimes doubtful South Node of the Moon. The truth may be blocked, unclear and take time to emerge during the days and weeks around the eclipse. It’s also a time when deeper lies, confusion and karmas can be created.

However, Mars and Jupiter play prominent roles in this eclipse, offering us vision and opportunities for change. Although challenged, Jupiter’s influence is strong this eclipse, ruling or aspecting almost all of the planets in this chart. Jupiter is driven by the search for Truth and higher connection. It pulls in our teachers, gurus, mentors, spiritual leaders and politicians. Mars is at the top of the chart during the pinnacle of the eclipse in Uttara Bhadrapada, the “spiritual warrior” degree of Pisces, offering strength, courage and motivation to engage on our evolutionary paths and for the greater good (which are the same thing in the end). Uttara Bhadrapada is fierce, wise and deeply caring. Mars doesn’t shy away from a challenge, and it leads the path with this eclipse in Jupiter’s sign. It does take effort and continued interest, and sometimes restraint in Mars’ fiery expression.

The Moon during the Lunar Eclipse will be in a degree of sidereal Sagittarius called Purva Ashadha, “the former victor,” which uses its inner knowing, kindness and ability to bring people together to overcome obstacles. The connections the Moon makes with Ketu and Jupiter also bolster this Moon’s already heightened intuition. The personal focus of this Lunar Eclipse reinforces what the summer of retrogrades has already been telling us: it is time to listen to our inner guidance rather than shooing it away out of doubt. Personal shifts are inevitable.

Eclipses shine the spotlight on what’s been hidden, allowing for the truth to emerge. The days around an eclipse are always full of secrets being revealed for those who have them, and personal revelations and shifts occurring for those ready for them. Eclipses can usher in massive change, and this is the third eclipse of the season (and the 4th of 6 eclipses this year). Being clear and meditating on what you want to bring forth in your life and in the world is the best usage of the time surrounding the eclipse.
