PROTECTION or ABUSE OF POWER? Lunar Eclipse June 5 at 15:12 eastern time
As with all eclipses, secrets emerge and hidden agendas get revealed. The shadows get the spotlight while the skeletons come dancing out of the closet, whether in our personal lives or on the global scale. For some it can be a “final straw” moment that breaks them. For others it can be an awakening to what is happening and what is possible.
The lunar eclipse will be in “Jyeshtha” the dragon slayer, 21° of sidereal Scorpio. It’s purpose is to fearlessly protect those in danger. This is Jyeshtha’s strength: it’s a protector first and foremost. It can take the shape of anyone or anything protective. Its symbol is the talisman - the amulet magically infused with protective energy. Its deity is Indra, the King of the Gods. Imagine for a moment the sheer power involved with holding this title. And now imagine the abuse of power that can come along. Jyeshtha’s shadow side is in fact that it claims to be above the law, and it can suffer a fall from grace. The specific “pada” this lunar eclipse connects with is quite stubborn and can easily fall prey to its own greed and desire for power. It must make efforts to remain pure in its heart in order to not do so.
Being ruled by warrior/activist Mars and swift-moving/intelligent Mercury, Jyeshtha (Scorpio) is also connected to the police and military. For those in the USA (where this eclipse prominently sits directly on top of the 17:10 birth chart for the country), we suddenly find ourselves in a military state. We see death and destruction in the news. We have police and national guard strewn across the country. Our cities have curfews. Some feel this is appropriate protection while others would say this is an abuse of power. As this is happening just before an eclipse - a time when deeper, often times misaligned motives are called out - and the eclipse is in exact degrees to the country’s rising sign, abuse of power is more accurate for what we are experiencing.
Whatever comes to light during an eclipse is meant to be faced and owned. We can expect to see more uncovering of abuses of power as well as mysteries solved / secrets revealed in the coming days and weeks. On an individual level as well as a national level, the eclipse message is clear: we must protect and take care of ourselves, our loved ones, and especially the vulnerable members of our communities.
As Jyeshtha is ruled by Mars and Mercury, how we think, speak and act are in focus. Are we using these planets’ merged energies to encourage others to act, or to cause harm? Are we even aware of the power our words and actions have, no matter how small? Or are we using our voices to educate and inspire?
Mars and Mercury often need to be reminded to slow down and be mindful. During eclipse season (and always), it is important to keep in mind the Ayurvedic/yogic idea of “prajnaparadha: crimes against wisdom”. It states when we sit still, breathe into our hearts and truly connect deeply and quietly, we each know our individual Truths. Nobody else can answer that for us.
Along these lines, it is said what we focus on during an eclipse gets magnified tremendously. We must be very clear on what we are thinking about and meditating on during the time surrounding the eclipse. Take time to write down what you are releasing from - for yourself and for the greater good. Scorpio is skilled at purging and cleansing, so have a burning ceremony for it. Be mindful of how you phrase things so as not to perpetuate old ideas that are ready for release. And then hold the vision of what you want to manifest in the world.
The bottom line is this: the ego gets called out in eclipses. Eclipses force us to take responsibility, whether we are ready or not. That is truly what this whole time is about: owning it, even if the underbelly is worse than you could imagine.
The words of Betheyla, my beloved Jyotish teacher, keep ringing in my ears this last week. She said about 15 years ago: “If we each took responsibility for our own internal wars in Iraq, perhaps we wouldn’t be seeing it at play in the physical world.” We are there again now, but with different wars to heal. Ideas around power, greed, secrets, inequality, deeply embedded cultural mindset, racism, lack of trust, as well as being embracing our power, and being courageous and daring - these all show up with this eclipse. Since it’s in in sidereal Scorpio, we each must get ready to do the deep dive inward with a strong focus on mindset, communication and language and release from old karmic paths that have no right to continue.
As mentioned in previous forecasts, 2020-2021 are about each of us stepping into our power. The placements have lined up that replicate all of the major world shifts since the Revolution (video on where this is discussed: https://www.facebook.com/DeborahliseMotaLAcPhD/videos/581085692617938/UzpfSTQ4MjM0NDA3NTEyNTYxMTozNDA4MzQxNTg5MTkyNDk3/). This is clearly a time of massive change. There is no “going back to normal.” It is impossible. And so we must create a new future, one where we each honor ourselves and those who are with us for this karmic ride - including the 7 generations of ancestors in both directions we are here to heal. Stepping into our mastery means owning the greatness of who we are. Each and every one of us. This is not an easy thing to do! So much unraveling to be done. It has begun. We have been pushed into owning up and making changes in our lives and within the wiring of our brains with the planets lining up as they have been since January, with 3 eclipses now upon us (June 5, 21, July 5), and with so many retrogrades in the sky (Mercury is next!). The veil has been pulled back - way back. What we see is not what most people want to keep as we move forward. These difficult days are when we get to re-examine, release and redefine who exactly we want to be. This eclipse reminds us we can - must! - rise up to be the conscious protectors of humanity. We just have to remember the magic lies within each of us.
