Partial Solar Eclipse/New Moon Oct. 25, 6:49 a.m. sidereal Libra, Swati

Eclipses can usher in massive change. They are considered to be powerful revealing events that shine the spotlight on areas that have been hidden or are ready to be seen. They can make secrets public, as we always see in the news the days immediately surrounding an eclipse. To utilize this time and energy wisely, it’s recommended to go within using guidance from the planetary alignments and the nakshatras (Vedic signs) prominent during the eclipse (below). As eclipses have a magnifying effect, the suggestion is to not treat the time around the eclipse like any other day but rather to engage in spiritual and personal practices. For ex: doing yoga, journaling, grounding breathwork, and focused visualizations before the eclipse followed by meditating around the height of the eclipse is recommended.

Eclipses highlight our karmic connections and give us opportunities for further engagement or release. This next Partial Solar Eclipse (which always falls on a New Moon) will be on Tues, Oct 25 at 6:48am eastern time sitting in Venus’ sign of Libra and also sitting with Venus, magnifying our diplomacy, our sense of justice, our ability to compromise, but mostly our relationships. Moreover, it is in the early degrees of the nakshatra Swati, whose name translates to “very good” or “independent.” Its symbol is the wheat sprout or a blade of grass and is known for its flexibility and bending with the wind thanks to its ruling deity Vayu, the God of Wind. Swati has the power to scatter things, which can be helpful when “planting seeds,” like a marketing campaign where you want your message spread far and wide. Being ruled by entrepreneurial and rebellious Rahu, Swati can also be hard to pin down and can make us feel scattered. Structure-loving Saturn is connecting with this eclipse making this is a great time to put pen to paper, write down your plan of action, be selective about who you partner with – and remember that things will change and grow. Swati is known for its draw to personal development practices, and so being flexible in the process and with the outcome is key.

When we connect with Swati in the sky like we are during this eclipse (which is said to influence us for the next 6 moths), it’s important to look at areas of our own lives that Swati is connecting with. Some ideas to consider:

*What relationships and endeavors are exciting, adventurous, and growth-promoting?

*Which ones are encouraging of your independent side so you can be authentically you?

*Which areas in your life are you ready to say “namaste” to, recognize the growth you received, but ultimately need to move on from?

*Swati has the ability to “wipe the slate clean” and even begin again. Are areas asking this of you?

*Do you feel scattered? What needs attention and regrouping in your life?

*Swati can go into “debt” which can mean beyond finances. Do any areas of life feel like there is lack or you’re not receiving what you are worth?

*Depending on the eclipse’s placement in our individual charts, the idea of “relationships” can be beyond our intimate or contractual partnerships. What areas are asking for a more solid connection with you? For ex: consider your relationship with money, time, nutrition, spiritual practices, etc… Are any areas calling out for more attention or to even be revamped? Because of the connection to others this Libra eclipse is spotlighting, it is helpful to reach out for help from someone who is skilled and ethical in the areas asking for support in your life.
