New Moon Punarvasu 20°11 sidereal Gemini July 5 at 6:57 PM eastern time: REMEMBRANCE/RENEWAL
The New Moon will be in Punarvasu, an uplifting degree of Gemini whose name means “restoration” or “good again” in Sanskrit. It’s a healing sign that offers rejuvenation and encourages us to revisit or repurpose old items, plans or methods. Punarvasu is the ultimate fixer upper sign. It’s able to see the beauty and value within, whether it’s a physical object or an idea, and knows how to beautifully bring that forward.
The 3 planetary rulers of this New Moon - the “professor planets” Mercury, Jupiter, and the action-loving 1st pada ruler Mars - create an energetic that encourages us to not only to discuss our ideas (most likely from the past), but to (re)organize them on paper, figure out the process, and make plans to get moving. This New Moon magnifies what we are beginning to experience with the recent Saturn Retro shift, and adds some excitement to this next lunar cycle.
Punarvasu’s symbol is the arrow and the quiver: the arrow shows us the importance of “journeying” out into the world (on all levels), while the quiver reminds us to “return home” – to bring our insights and gains back to be used in a new way. This intentional/action side of Punarvasu is an important aspect to focus on as it’s a sign that can easily lean into spiritual and intellectual thought, as well as overthinking, over-analyzing and over-intellectualizing experiences. Be aware of the potential to spin out a bit this next lunar cycle. Gemini, an air sign that enjoys the meetings, the brainstorming and the excitement of the creation process, also favors quiet breathwork, journaling and mantra to help it ground and return to center.
This is where Aditi, Punarvasu’s ruling deity, comes in to offer support. She is the Mother of the Gods and Kings, and is connected to rebirth, nurturing and abundance. She governs the special 1 hour 36 minutes before sunrise called the “Brahma Muhurta” hours, or the Creator’s Hours. The classic Vedic texts state that meditating during this golden pre-dawn time is especially powerful as it can help us access and undo some of our earliest traumas. (*article below)
To consider:
🏹What are you excited about?
🏹What have you been wanting to “fix” or “fix up” lately?
🏹What ideas or projects from the past have you been considering?
🏹Can you set aside time each morning for journaling about your intentions?
🏹Who or what systems will be instrumental in helping you get your ideas organized? (*Goal setting will be more accessible with the upcoming July 21 Full Moon in the lovely and well organized sign of Uttara Ashadha in sidereal Capricorn.)
🏹Have you been waking up before sunrise on your own? If so, perhaps your system is letting you know it’s ready for a deeper release. Can you sit and meditate instead of staying in bed?
