New Moon Tuesday, Mar. 21, 1:23 p.m. in sidereal Pisces, Uttara Bhadrapada: Fight the Good Fight
This Full Moon is in a sensitive and fierce sign called Uttara Bhadrapada, a degree of sidereal Pisces whose name means the “latter legs of the funeral cot” in Sanskrit. It’s the sign of the spiritual warrior: the one who is tuned in and ready to fight for justice and the light. It is ruled by Jupiter and Saturn, planets who encourage us to step into our mastery, to be of service and rise to the occasion.
The Piscean nature of this New Moon is imbued with heightened intuition and a sensitivity that guides it from within, and the Jupiter-Saturn rulership gives it an idealism to uphold and purpose to move forward. This New Moon is also connected to Ahirbudhnya, the serpent of the deep waters, who is said in mythology to support the world on its head.
It’s a powerful sign which tends to have a positive disposition and the wherewithal to combat the challenging energetics around it. To do this, it needs time alone in order to reflect on what is in alignment (not blindly going along with others), and to regenerate from its interactions.
But there’s a heaviness to this New Moon that can make it feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. Thankfully, there are supportive connections being made with Jupiter, giving us the ability to keep looking ahead, pushing forward and coming up with solutions to the challenges at hand. This Moon is also sitting with Mercury, and so communication and journaling are important outlets and tools during this lunar cycle. We are coming up to some bigger shifts in the sky (next forecast will outline this), so being centered in our “majja dhatu” (mind, nervous system) will be important.
With these ideas in mind, it’s a good time to ask ourselves:
· Have we been bearers of light? Or have we been feeding into the fear and promoting it?
· Have we been loving and kind? Or judgmental and cynical?
· Have we been spiritual warriors? Or simply waging war?
· Where do you feel called to focus your attention now?
· Is there a battle within you? Or within your community? If so, can you pause and feel into what is truly aligned for you and your beliefs?
