Mercury retrograde in sidereal Virgo Sept 9-Oct 2, 2022: Gifts in funny wrapping paper
Although Mercury is retrograde 3-4 times a year, managing it with calm can be a challenge for many. We are quite familiar with the retrograde mishaps, which often test our patience and ability to pivot with grace. It can create delays, confusion and frustration. Mis(sed)communication occurs; computers, electronics and cars have issues; we run into people from the past, we revisit issues we thought were complete. We can feel like we are short-circuiting.
Simple remedies: slow down on all fronts; review things before signing/sending; take time to pause and think before responding; set alarms to give yourself ample time for the unexpected; prioritize sleep, self-care and hands-on healing. For this particular Mercury retro in Virgo (which can be critical): being kind is key!
A rewarding side of retrograde times is that ideas or opportunities from the past re-emerge, and we are drawn to work on “back burner projects” that have been delayed. Since we are currently working with *retrograde Saturn, Jupiter and now Mercury, this can show up as revisiting ideas we’ve been wanting to offer, or engaging in offerings from others we’ve been considering. Jupiter is sitting opposite Mercury, giving it a strong boost and deeper insights during this time. Asking for help from a trusted mentor is suggested.
Retrograde times can make us go back and forth in our thoughts. Thanks to Saturn/Jupiter/Merc all retrograde* and connecting to each other in various ways, there is a strong “imposter syndrome” feeling at the moment as we may ask ourselves, “Who am I to do XYZ??” But as we go through the (e)motions that arise with this time, and we reflect upon and refine our abilities, our positions and our offerings to society, we will undoubtedly come to humbly embrace our dharma and surrender to, “Well… who am I NOT to do XYZ?”
This is not a time to twiddle our thumbs and wait for it to pass. Rather, it’s beneficial for reflection, cleaning out the cobwebs (psychic and otherwise), and in turn gaining clarity and deeper inner strength. As a good friend says, sometimes gifts come in funny wrapping paper.
*Retrograde planets for the end of 2022 and into 2023:
• Saturn retro: June 4-Oct 23
• Jupiter retro: July 28-Nov 23
• Mercury retro: Sept 9-Oct 2 / Dec 29-Jan 18
*These 3 above are all in their own signs, which gives them added strength and direction during this retrograde time. Recall the idea of “two steps forward, one step back” mentioned months ago for the second half of 2022: we are still moving forward, just making sure each rock is overturned along the way.
• Mars retro: Oct 30-Jan 12
*All planets, including the 3 outer planets, are direct for all of February, March and into late April 2023! This is uncommon and should help move things forward more swiftly.
