Full Moon in sidereal Sagittarius Mula June 21, 2024 9:07pm ET: Destruction / Creation
Mula means "the roots" in Sanskrit, and its symbol is the same: a tied bunch of roots. The presiding deity of this Full Moon in Mula is Nirriti, the goddess of dissolution and destruction. She (like Kali) is responsible for "dissolving" the emotions and old karmic ties we have been carrying with us for years and lifetimes. She has the shakti or power is to crush and destroy afflictions at the root. This Full Moon is massively powerful and empowering as it sits in the Galactic Center- a supermassive black hole our solar system revolves around. Nirriti and Mula are the ones that push us to release from our old attachments to the material world, the ego-driven emotions, the unsupportive mental patterning, and dead-end habits. They remind us this is all “maya.” This Full Moon gives us the courage to dig deep, face illusions beneath the surface, and remove these impediments from our lives. What comes next is relief and the freedom to choose a path of abundance.
Nirriti's purpose is hidden in her creation story. She lives among the unseen realms, and has no fear of death. She is fierce, harsh, and is called upon with endings. A major key is that she precedes her sister Lakshmi's birth, letting us know if we want all that Lakshmi brings - prosperity, beauty, courage, knowledge, love - we must first clear the way by stomping the ego, dropping the story, and freeing ourselves from the drama we keep swirling in. Only then we can truly be free. From there, true abundance flows.
We rise up by letting go and releasing into Love.
Things to consider, from the mundane / physical to the spiritual / emotional levels:
* What needs weeding or clearing out?
* What have you been avoiding that has finally risen up to be dealt with?
* What old habits, beliefs, emotions, ways of being aren’t serving you anymore?
* What are you ready to release?
* What mindset and emotional patterns don’t feel supportive to you or your relationships?
* Do you trust you will fall into a place of love when you let go?
* What creative endeavors are calling you?
Supportive activities as we consciously uproot the old:
Mantra: LAM is the bija mantra connected to the root
Yoga: any poses that support the root / first chakra (malasana or squatting poses), activate the legs (mountain pose, standing forward bend, chair pose, eagle pose) or seated poses (easy pose, lotus pose, sitting on heel pose) and the bandhas or locks like mula bhanda the root lock
Herbs: this is a great time to begin an herbal protocol. Adaptogens (herbs that help us adapt to stress) are a nice herbal expression of Mula’s resilience. Dahsamula the ten roots is a grounding Ayurvedic formula good for reducing excess vata in the system and is often included in herbal basthis. Please defer to your practitioner.
Foods to favor: root vegetables, root herbs (ginger, tumeric, dashamula tea), (guided) fasting and cleansing
