July 3, 2023 at 7:38am ET: Full Moon in Purva Ashadha: Giving Thanks to the Teachers and the Path
The Full Moon on July 3 is in a supportive degree of sidereal Sagittarius called Purva Ashadha, “the invincible star” or “former victor.” This sign is philosophical, insightful, and has strong intuition. It’s ruled by Venus and Jupiter, the “planetary coaches,” so is naturally tuned in to others and their needs. It’s a kind sign, supportive of others and makes efforts to ensure all “win” – which results in strong interpersonal skills and great opportunities for personal development, often times coming from facing challenges with cooperation, patience and flexibility.
While this Moon is receiving a boost from Jupiter, the great benefic, it’s also considered to be an unsupported moon, which can bring about a sense of loneliness and feeling misunderstood. Taking alone time is a natural expression for an unsupported moon; isolating and pulling away is an extreme. Keep that in the back of your mind this lunar cycle if you find yourself withdrawing more and more, or wanting to avoid others. Purva Ashadha can also be a people pleaser, which has roots in not wanting confrontation and so does not always share its needs. Sometimes it would rather avoid a potential problem than speak up.
Being in the sign of sidereal Sagittarius, this “Guru Purnima” Full Moon has a strong connection with teachers, mentors and guides. This is a wonderful chance to revisit lessons from the past and offer gratitude to the influential teachers and teachings in our lives. It’s also a great time to embark on new horizon-expanding adventures, or revisit past lessons and re-establish that connection. (Saturn retrograde approves of this idea!)
There is comfort in revisiting foundational guidance for this unsupported moon. Sometimes when we feel alone, it’s helpful to remember who we are by reconnecting to the paths we’ve taken. This Sagittarius Full Moon reminds us to also offer thanks to those who held us up at different times in our lives and helped to illuminate our steps along the way.
Who has done this for you?
What teachings have lit your path?
Can to make time to remember and honor?
