Full Moon in Cancer in Ashlesha: Be the Channel, Be the Speaker •
(Feb 9th 00:48 after midnight eastern time)

The full moon will be in its own sign, at the end degrees of sidereal Cancer. Ashlesha is a powerful and complex sign. It is ruled by the Moon and Mercury and asks us to merge our hearts and minds, and speak the truth as it flows through each of us as divine messengers.

However we can encounter challenges with Ashlesha when it bites its tongue and withholds its truth. So many don’t see themselves as divine conduits when we all are in our own unique ways. This full moon reminds us that this is in fact part of our offering back to society. We each must share the authentic message that comes through us. Saturn’s influence on this moon encourages us to be succinct and direct with the message.

When Ashlesha tunes in, manages its deep feelings and releases the ego, it has the ability to be a powerful speaker who can influence many. Its name means “clinging one” in Sanskrit and is symbolized by the coiled serpent. Ashlesha can be magnetic when fully embracing its power. It speaks the truth in such a way that cuts to the core, and draws truth-seekers to it.

When it opens to being the messenger and is aligned with its higher self, Ashlesha has the ability to uncoil and awaken the kundalini: the deep spiritual energy, symbolizes by a coiled serpent, residing at the base of the spine that snakes up and unifies the subtle nadi channels of ida, pingala and sushumna, flowering into a cobra hood above the crown chakra. (For those who have experienced a kundalini awakening, they often describe the physical sensation of an energy going up the spine and flowing over the head. These symbols in the Vedic signs are rooted in real spiritual experiences.)

When hurt, out of balance or when it has unhealthy emotional attachments, Ashlesha can strike with vengeance and sting like the cobra. When imbalanced, its coiled and clinging ways can squeeze hard and stifle.

We each have a choice with this Cancerian Full Moon in Ashlesha: to either pull back from sharing your Self, or claim your voice, your power and become the speaker. Choose the latter.
