Dec 23, 2022 05:17 am ET: New Moon in Mula: Reveal / Move On

The astrological events of the last few months have reminded us of the necessity of connections and caregivers, of our support systems and our roots. This has reinforced our foundation as we work towards the end of the year New Moon in Mula, a fierce and revealing degree of sidereal Sagittarius the Truth Seeker.

“Mula” means “roots” and its symbol is a tied bunch of roots. It’s a sign that helps us courageously uncover what’s been hiding beneath, and gives us the support to do so, from partners to practitioners to plants. (Mula favors herbal formulas/adaptogens to help us heal and process.) This last season has been very much about this: peeling back the layers, getting deep to the seed of pain and focusing on healing that. It’s difficult but essential to moving forward on a path free from obstacles and inhibitions. As Mula’s symbol reminds us, none of this is possible without proper support: our people, ancestral or chosen, bound together, keeping us grounded.

Mula’s diety, Nirriti, is the fearless goddess of destruction and death, who breaks up our illusions, stomps out our egos and helps release us from our attachments. She reminds us that our mortality and that the catchings of the physical world are fleeting. She is the older sister of Lakshmi, and so her goal is to clear the path for true Beauty, Abundance and Love to come. Bear this in mind as you do the work Mula and Nirriti are presenting because it’s not always enjoyable! Their purpose is to help us to embrace endings so our true Selves can flourish. The beauty of this New Moon experience is the next lunation reinforces that when we do the work, true healing and renewal follow. The first Full Moon of 2023 is in the beautiful sign Punarvasu, sign of rejuvenation whose name means “good again.”

This New Moon is thankfully sitting with planetary friends so has support, and is getting a push by driven Rahu to tackle the tough stuff. A good number of planets are in the 3rd pada of their signs, ruled by Gemini, so it’s important to write or talk about the process and the findings, and then move on and not dwell in them. Remember: Detachment is Queen with this New Moon.

::PEACE::
