Oct 2 at 2:49pm ET: New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in 15°51 sidereal Virgo Hasta: Being a Helping/Healing Hand

Eclipses are revealing events in our lives and in the world, where hidden truths emerge as well as areas in our lives asking for attention and deeper healing. When we look at the current eclipses as a pair, it’s clearly a time of courage and practicality, with the Pisces Purva Bhadrapada Lunar Eclipse reminded us to purge and cleanse (internal and external), and the Virgo Hasta Solar Eclipse helping us figure out measured steps towards personal fortification as we move on to the next thing on our karmic journey.

This Solar Eclipse Sun, Moon, Ketu and Mercury are in the caring and healing sign of Hasta, meaning “hand” in Sanskrit, a grounded and intuitive degree of sidereal Virgo that likes to take inspired and practical steps towards manifestation. As its name on implies, it’s crafty, handy and is always a welcome helper. Being of service is its love language. It’s a natural healer, has strong left/right brain connection, and trusts its intuition as it has the analytics and research to back itself up. Because of these qualities and its generous heart, Hasta is a highly trustworthy sign.

Its deity is Savitar, the Sun god, who illuminates the inner world, helping to extinguish darkness from within. Its shakti or power is to put the objects you desire into the palm of your hand. A key question then for this eclipse is what do you want, and what is being prompted to change in order to reach this?

To get there, Hasta encourages hands-on modalities to help us work through whatever is presenting in our lives. The Mars aspect support healing expressions like lymphatic drainage, tapping, massage (even if it’s as limited and simple as a hand or foot massage), marma therapy and acupuncture that help “move the issues out of the tissues.” Modalities like EMDR, ART or alternate nostril breathing that activate and connect both sides of the brain are highly encouraged. The Jupiter aspect of this eclipse reminds us to ask for support from an expert or a mentor as we can go further with proper guidance.

As Hasta connects to the hands and is ruled by Mercury and the Moon, it’s a great time to write down whatever is up for analysis or decision making, and then allocate time to really go through the possible challenges and benefits. Hasta is generally a strong problem solver, but the Ketu connection of this eclipse may cloud our reasoning for a bit. Seeing it in black and white might be helpful in gaining clarity. Remember the patience required with eclipse times; do the personal work heart-mind work first.

The greatest question we can ask when we are working with Hasta as we are now is: how can we be of service?

Some questions to consider:

☀️Are you feeling stuck or out of alignment?

☀️What do you want?

☀️Where is your inner voice nudging or guiding you?

☀️What modalities will help you convert the energy at hand?

☀️Are you able to outline practical steps to take towards your goals?

☀️What tools are already in the palms of your hands?

*Remember: eclipse season can bring a lot of heavy events into our lives, and so is a time to recognize what we are bumping up against, and begin to work on the emotions and energetics around what is being brought to light. Because of this, it’s not the time to launch a major project - but instead to begin to shift gears and dig deeper into what’s been going on under the surface or behind the scenes to create the change you’re itching for. It can be difficult to be patient in taking action since eclipses can bring an urgency with them or even a sense of confusion — both of which want to be alleviated quickly. But whatever is presenting has likely been a long time brewing and is just starting to be seen as important now. This is also why eclipses often times reveal darker secrets or unresolved issues that have been long hidden. The eclipse can signal that the karma is ripe for these areas to be seen and explored. For some, it can be a time when “the jig is up” and the truth is finally coming to light. This always results in bombshell news events happen during the days around and in between eclipses, especially if the eclipse sign or degrees are closely connecting to a person’s birth chart. For others, it can be a time when we have major realizations about areas of our lives that are ready to be looked at more deeply. For all of us, it can feel a bit like a pressure cooker, like we’re in the verge of some kind of shift, and it can feel unsettling. Taking time to explore the underside of the fear, and aligning with your truth is the eclipse time recommendation rather than quickly reacting.

:::PEACE:::
