Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 20:22 p.m. eastern time: Full Moon Chitra 29°07 Virgo: Shine on, in spite of
The Full Moon is in the end degrees of sidereal Virgo, in the sign Chitra, whose name means “brilliant” and is known as the Star of Opportunity. It’s ruled by the deity Tvashtar (or Vishwakarma) - the divine carpenter, the ultimate artisan, the celestial architect - who is said to have created the Cosmos, forged tools for the gods, and even designed the human form.n Chitra has the ability to refine itself, much like the building up and chiseling away process Tvashtar is so skilled at. Its symbol of the pearl (that took time to form and whose shell must crack to reveal the beauty within) and the bright jewel (whose surface is refined by cutting off the outer layers) give us insight into the process Chitra must embrace for the inner beauty to be cultivated, emerge and to shine brightly. While this process can be uncomfortable, it’s what brings out our authenticity, makes us empathetic and relatable.
While this is a stunningly beautiful Moon, it’s also receiving challenging aspects from almost every planet; it’s juggling a lot of different characters which can feel overwhelming. The Moon is sitting with Ketu, the planet of moksha and of letting go, making us either feel like the rug has been yanked out from under us, or like we’re standing in a fog uncertain which way to go. The Moon is also sitting across from the massive cluster of planets - every other planet, in fact, except Mars (although this sign is ruled by Mars so it too is playing an important role!). This is a lot of pressure for the Moon (the emotions and mind), and it’s been experiencing this for a few days even before the Moon was considered full. With every planet making a connection to this Moon, it can feel heavy on your heart and in your thoughts.
But there are some shining lights to stay focused on. The Full Moon is being uplifted by Jupiter - the great benefic and planet of opportunities - which keeps our heads held high, gives us insight, faith and hope, and helps us to keep moving forward. Jupiter reminds us that all is not lost, and that we can use this time to focus on our spirituality and to re-envision next steps that are in better alignment with our beliefs. The Virgo quality of this Chitra Moon asks us to keep it practical, to anchor our dreams in the here and now. The Mars and Mercury rulership of this sign of the architect are asking us to pick up a pen and draft the blueprints for the new future, and to get some actionable steps written down in the calendar. While the Ketu connection is making us feel a bit lost, it’s also making us edit the vision and to follow our intuitive pull.
Chitra is considered to be the shining gem of the nakshatras, and is said to be one of the most auspicious signs for spiritual growth. Its symbol of the pearl shows us this: the word for pearl in Sanskrit is “mauktika,” which also means “desirous of emancipation.” This Full Moon reminds us that there is a brilliant gem within us all waiting to be liberated and to shine freely. While there are many external forces that feel heavy and eclipsing, the essence of this Chitra Full Moon tells us that a pearl is borne of a grain of sand - from external irritation - and that brilliance can come of challenging moments. This Chitra Moon asks us to dive in and let the internal brilliance be seen, to do our best to be an authentic light in the world and to shine on, in spite of the challenging energies we find ourselves in.
To consider:
💎How are you feeling in the external world?
💎How are you feeling within your Self?
💎Are your beliefs shifting?
💎Do you need to edit your plans?
💎Are you letting your inner light shine?
