Nov 28, 2023-May 29, 2025: Rahu in Pisces / Ketu in Virgo: The Analytic Mystic
The karmic Nodes of the Moon shift backwards every 18+ months, creating dramatic changes in our focus and in the world. They can bring about a new chapter in our lives, and a sense that something is on the horizon, yet to reveal itself. Their pull is undeniable, even when it seems contrary to who/what/where we’ve been. So we can struggle with their influences, reaching to escapism or indulgence to avoid facing the karmas that are waving at us, asking us to engage with them in order to release from old ways or embark on new paths.
Rahu, the voracious and materialistic North Node of the Moon, can give us an insatiable drive wherever it lands in our charts, making us plow forward on a path, sometimes creating chaos as it can have little regard for others. Ketu, the elusive and mystical South Node of the Moon, reminds us of where we’ve been, what we need to remember, and say thank you to and perhaps move on from. They are intense energies giving us an underlying and unseen motivation towards manifesting aspects of our future selves (with Rahu) because these areas were undeveloped in past lives, and recollect and reclaim aspects of our past expressions (with Ketu) because these are aspects of ourselves we worked on in and are skilled in.
Working with these “shadow planets” is different than when we connect with other planets as they bring up areas in our lives and in our communities showing where the karma is ripe for fruition or removal. It takes courage, grace and some sternness to manage their energies. If they get away from us and we let them lead rather than buckling in and riding securely in our saddles upon their backs, we can create more trauma and karma. The highest expression is to embrace them with humility, face the karmas presenting, and move through them with intelligence and trust. If we do this on an individual level, then the hope is the societal expression will also be more elevated. (Note: this is not easy! Comfort and keeping the status quo is a strong pull for many.)
As these two planetary energies shift – Rahu from fiery warrior leap-before-you-think Aries and into sensitive, mystical and boundless Pisces, and Ketu from beauty and relationship conscious Libra and into methodical, analytical and overly mindful Virgo – we will undoubtedly see a shift in ourselves and in the world around us. These new placements bring the importance of spirituality to the forefront, but with reasoning and research backing it. This may sound like an impossible merging for our Western minds, but the Vedas are proof of just this: they’re a grouping of spiritual sciences with the purpose of getting closer to unity/divinity.
Rahu in Pisces/Ketu in Virgo bring huge ideas found only in science fiction or mysticism down to the earth plane. They help pin down the dream, bring the macro to the micro, and in the process help society to advance to a place of greater connection. Overall, we will see the potential for more kindest, acceptance, healing and peace come into the forefront for the next 18 months while we as a collective work with Rahu in Pisces and Ketu in Virgo.
In the past, the years connected to Rahu in Pisces/Ketu in Virgo helped create incredible leaps forward in society, most significantly in different areas of science, engineering, government and music. Rahu was in Pisces and Ketu was in Virgo in 1912-13, 1931-32, 1950-51, 1968-69, 1986-88, 2005-06, and now Nov 2023-May 2025. During these years, we have seen peace treaties signed and the Geneva convention take effect. We’ve had progress in science and engineering with atomic science and genetics discoveries, nuclear particles studied more closely, giant spiral galaxy discovered, and medical breakthroughs (like AZT approved for treatment of AIDS), and the invention of the internet. There were major automotive industry and engineering advances made, with the 30s bringing the completion of Empire State Building and George Washington Bridge in NYC. In 2005, the longest bridge in the world began construction in China. While these were all exciting forward moves, we also saw the tragedy of the Titanic in April 1912, another massive idea that came briefly into existence. Yet even this horrible event influenced shipping design and forced changes focusing on safety, forever altering travel by sea.
Each time Rahu was in Pisces and Ketu was in Virgo, there were also apex moments in the music scenes, bringing more soul and spirit to the music of the day from the birth of rock and roll in 1950, to Woodstock in 1969, to the epic album releases in 1987, and the “superstar concerts” in 2005. In 1932, the first 33.3 record was recorded forever changing our ability to access music, the first album was recorded in stereo (by accident!), and we saw the birth of symphonies and of Swing music.
It’s historically been an exciting time for innovation and unexpected upleveling in many areas. And of course, there are always downsides to each planetary placement. Idealism and escapism can override, as can disbelief and the focus on proof above trust. Rahu in Pisces can focus heavily on escapism and even abuse medicinal journeywork. This is where Ketu in Virgo comes along to make sure we are doing our research and finding the science and research to back up the sacred. The hope for this next round of Rahu in Pisces and Ketu in Virgo is a remembrance of who we really are (made of stars!), and that we as a collective can begin to return to this deeper connection to others and to the Universe itself. The focus is on honoring healing practices – that heal mind body soul – not because it’s trendy but because it has real value to our whole beings.
