New Moon in the healing sign of Ashwini
An after-the-fact New Moon post, brought to you by a very active Mercury retrograde :
Yesterday's New Moon was in the healing sign of Ashwini, the first degrees of Aries in the Vedic system. Ashwini connects with prana (the vital life force), with new beginnings, with enthusiasm, with get up and go energy, and with miracles especially when it comes to healing. The typically sensitive and introspective new moon was sitting in the outwardly expressing sign of Aries, causing many to have heightened emotions and also to come face to face with their deeper issues. This can express as disagreements, perhaps even a little kicking and screaming, or just feeling frustrated at the current situation. Remember, Aries is ruled by the ram and Ashwini by the horse -- both powerful and direct beings -- and both can put up a fight if triggered or not well guided. Take this to the heart-mind level and ask yourself if you have some integrating to do mentally and emotionally today. And maybe some direct conversations to have? Or maybe even some apologizing?
This New Moon was also sitting with Mercury Retrograde which asks us to tune into the mental and emotional disconnect. (So a repeat of the above, thereby magnifying it.) Take some time to rest, do something nice for yourself, and go inward to reflect. Spend time with those with whom you have reciprocal support and nurturing. Mercury retrograde offers us time for reflection -- use it! The Aries energy wants to push forward right now but the retrograde energy encourages us to pause and make sure the path is appropriate.
The New Moon was also sitting with the Sun, as new moons always do, encouraging us to get out of our own way! We can count on this energy to pop up monthly for us (if not daily!). New Moons support release and moving on from old ways, patterns, emotions that don't serve -- maybe even aspects of ourselves that we tend to write off as "oh that's just me." Those are the ones to really take time to look at.
Releasing from old ways and embarking on new paths require kindness and support, as well as focus, energy and drive. Take time to gather the strength for all of this. Know that the support is there. It's a time of change, an we just need to do our own work first.
