Lunar Eclipse May 5, 2023: What’s Next?
LUNAR ECLIPSE: What’s Next?
The Lunar Eclipse on Friday, May 5 at 13:35pm eastern time is in Vishakha, a degree of sidereal Libra, whose name in Sanskrit means “forked” or “with many branches.” It’s a beautiful sign that reminds us that anything worth doing takes patience, determination and commitment. This “star of purpose” is turning our attention to the path emerging in the next stage on our journey, however elusive or obvious it may be. The 1st pada of Vishakha (the specific degrees this eclipse is in) encourages us to take the leap and give the new adventure a try.
We get more encouragement and confidence when we look at Vishakha’s symbolism and rulers. Its symbols are the triumphant archway or the potter’s wheel, one showing great success and the other encouraging creation. Its ruling planets are Venus and Jupiter, considered to be the great benefics who offer support and collaboration, and remind us to keep others in mind as we move forward. Vishakha’s deities are Agni, the God of Fire, and Indra, the King of the Gods, giving us sustainable energy and the feeling that what we do is necessary and helpful.
Vishakha is powerful yet patient, and is clear in its intentions and expression. Its shadow side, however, is it can be an overachiever, trying to do too many things at once. This can result in expectation, disappointment, exhaustion and discord as Vishakha can easily take on the role of director. This is a time of making decisions mindfully, purposefully, and to honor your pace and those you collaborate with.
The days and events directly around eclipses can have a major impact in our lives, especially if the eclipse is connecting to planets in the birth chart. Be aware of the ideas you’re having, the opportunities presenting, and the decisions you’re making over the next week. This eclipse reminds us to keep Vishakha’s strong sense of ethics, its tenacity and longevity at the forefront of our activities in order to best help us along our paths.
Some things to consider:
Are you at a crossroad?
What are you ready to create?
Are you clear about your vision?
Will it help others?
How’s your “agni” – your internal fire? Are you able to handle what’s on your plate?
Eclipses bring about our karma, reveal secrets, and shed light on areas of our lives that have been hiding in the shadows or are ready to step into the spotlight. It’s best to use the time during an eclipse for spiritual and mindful activities.
