It’s a busy end of the month: Mars and Mercury go direct! Saturn is back in sidereal Aquarius!

It’s a busy end of the month: Mars and Mercury go direct! Saturn is back in Aquarius!

The last 2 weeks of January bring some major planetary movement that is very welcome as we are finishing up old business before we move ahead, but these changes can feel unsettling and exhausting. For sensitive types, prioritizing sleep and good nourishment will be helpful. If you know of anyone in a tender space with their health (physical, mental/emotional), this is a time to reach out and make sure they’re ok.

MARS GOES DIRECT

Mars is going direct on January 12th at 15:57eastern time and will stay in the grounded earth sign of Taurus until March 12, 2023. As mentioned in the initial Mars in Taurus forecast (from Aug 2022), Mars in this sign will help us to slow down and re-establish our roots. If we’ve used this retrograde time to reflect, release and regroup, we should emerge from Mars retrograde with a greater sense of ease and security within ourselves, and with the ability to move forward. This will get magnified as Mercury also goes direct on Jan 18th (below).

The next few weeks will feel like all systems go -- SLOWLY. Wherever Mars goes, our attention goes. Mars likes action, even if it’s disruptive and uncomfortable. It gives us courage and helps us get moving. Mars creates friction for change and (hopefully) growth. Taurus, on the other hand, is slow, stubborn, sensual, indulgent. The mantras for this time are go slowly and stay steady.

The next 2 months of this 7 month Mars in Taurus transit will help us feel more settled if our world was recently disrupted (esp over the last 2 months), tuned into our bodies’ needs, and more focused on the things that bring us a sense of security (like our homes, finances and relationships).

As Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, being more present and attentive to our relationships (intimate and professional) is also in focus. Creative pursuits are highly encouraged as Mars in Taurus has the stamina to help beauty to emerge, whatever expression it’s leaning into. Taurus’ artistic side and Mars’ strength and physicality can create fearless musicians, dancers and artists. If the creative inclination is there, take action!

SATURN IN AQUARIUS

Next up is Saturn moving back into sidereal Aquarius from Jan 17, 2023 at 7:34am – March 29, 2025 at 13:00pm eastern time. This will end the long run Saturn had in Capricorn, which began during the pandemic, and emphasized restrictions, rules, regulations but also trying to establish order by using methods that are tried and true… but sometimes turn out to be a little too old fashioned.

As we journey with Saturn in its new sign over the next 2 years 2 months, we will be moving away from old ways of thinking, influenced by tradition and the attitude of “well this is just the way things are!” and into a more freeing space where we open up to: “hey, wouldn’t if be cool if…” While Pluto is in sidereal Capricorn for the next 2 decades, it will be doing a lot of work to dismantle the patriarchy. We can count on this new Saturn in Aquarius movement to bring more tangible changes along the same lines around how things are going to be done as we move ahead. Be ready for a little more innovation and forward thinking from this stodgy old planet who likes to play by the rules. (Saturn is, btw, one of the main reasons we are able to accomplish anything lasting in life, so we shouldn’t diss Saturn!)

Saturn likes to have a guidelines, plans, systems in place, methods to work with – and Saturn wants to make sure these will serve the masses and be long lasting. Aquarius wants to think outside the box, dream of futuristic terrains and bring them into being… but being an air sign that connects to others/humanity, it does better with a team in order to have strong follow-through. Saturn has the tools to help Aquarius to manifest its vision. In return, Aquarius lightens up Saturn (thankfully!) and encourages it to go beyond what it has known so far.

The key to commitment for Aquarius: it must be 1000% excited to jump on board with whatever is being planned. The key for Saturn: show me your method and I’ll get behind it if it looks solid. Aquarius is a fixed sign and Saturn is pretty stubborn, so once they believe in something, they there for the long haul. This combo can push through challenges with innovation, especially if its excitement is still strong. Keep that light bright and focused on the future! Remember: there is no “let’s launch this yesterday” energy possible with Saturn, so give the vision its due time and planning. When properly honored, Saturn in Aquarius can be incredibly efficient and business savvy, looking for solutions in the most unusual ways. Be ready to do this in your own life as this combo will be influencing us for some time. (Where Saturn sits in your birth chart will dictate what areas will be most affected by this new transit.)

MERCURY GOES DIRECT

And lastly, Mercury will go direct again on Jan 18th at 8:12am. Keep in mind: the 5 or so days before and after Mercury shifts directions are the most (in Ayurvedic terms) “vata-deranging” days – meaning, the most disruptive, up in the air, unstable time of a Mercury retrograde time as it is a time of change. This is when the “retrograde” vibes kick up so be prepared (and see previous Merc retro forecast for more on what to do: https://www.lexneon.com/forecasts/dec-29-2022-jan-18-2023-mercury-retrograde-review-the-vision-/-pivot-if-necessary )

After this we have:

·       New Moon in sidereal Capricorn in Uttara Ashadha on Jan 21, 2023 at 15:54 eastern time

·       Mars shifts into sidereal Gemini in mid-March (revisiting: https://www.lexneon.com/forecasts/mars-in-gemini-oct-15-nov-13-ready-steady-go)

·       Jupiter shifts into sidereal Aries to join Rahu in April: buckle up big time for this one as these two visionaries need serious guidance in order to produce the leaps and bounds they are capable of… otherwise we could find them pulling a Thelma and Louise on us - !!! More on this combo later.
